Los Angeles, California – Art of Stepping Foundation is excited to announce the recipient of the 2015 Art of Excellence Award is L.A.C.E.R. Afterschool Programs an organization that provides underserved middle and high school youth with free arts and literacy-based after school programs which include academic support, arts programming, enrichment activities and sports in a safe and caring environment.
Art of Excellence Award was established in 2013 as a joint partnership between the Art of Stepping Foundation and the Art of Stepping® as a way to provide artistic programs including but not limited to dance and stepping to underprivileged communities nationwide. The $2,500.00 grant would provide one (1) organization the opportunity to have a FREE After School Program lead by the leading professional after school step program in the nation, Art of Stepping®.
“Our program not only teaches the art of stepping via mathematical formulas, but promotes leadership, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle,” noted Jessica Saul, AOS founder, “We are excited for this opportunity to expand and continue to spread an important message to our future leaders.”
Program will be implemented end of February at Bancroft Middle School located at 929 North Las Palmas Avenue, Los Angeles. The interactive and innovative program created for youth K-12 based on a tested curriculum, teaches stepping through the use of mathematical formulas utilizing Leonardo Da Vinci’s – The Vitruvian Man as a symbolic base. Children will learn the core fundamentals to the art of stepping, create original choreography but most importantly becoming physically and mentally active. With the closure of the program being a live performance AOS2S National Youth Step Tour and RISC West Stroll Championship on May 2.
