2010 – EXCLUSIVE BLOG by Jessica “REMO’ Saul: The Art of Stepping
When you think about Stepping, you typically think about African American Fraternal Organizations who have been performing for over 100 years. You may also think about the yard shows in the southern states or even just recently the movie “Stomp the Yard."What you may not know about stepping is that it is an art form of expression that evolves with everyone who encounters it. It is not owned by a race or a culture, it is a freedom of expression that has a story. It is the combination of beats as they are defined on your body, utilized as the tool, with sounds of your vocals as you chant your words of expression. Of course, it has its origins like every art form out there, but its beauty is the evolution to where we stand today. For more information click here.

2007 - MTV True Life – I’m Stepping Episode
Highlighting Remo’s Success in stepping: It's loud and it can bring the house down, we're talking about stepping, a raucous mix of African tribal, dance, tap, cheerleading, and gymnastics. It was once a predominantly African American fraternity and sorority past time, but is now crossing cultural boundaries nationwide. On this episode of true life we meet three step teams from all over the U.S trying to prove their number one by competing for the top prize at Step Correct, a national step championship. Jessica aka REMO, the step mistress of the Soul Stepping Divas of Omega Phi Beta from New York City, is on a mission to show that her all Latina team is as good as the best African American squad. She's pushing the divas to be the first team of its kind to compete for a national championship, but the stress is causing her to break down physically and emotionally. To get to the finals in New York, Jessica's team must first compete in a preliminary round in New Jersey. After cleaning up in the qualifying rounds, the Divas head to Queens for Step Correct. Dressed as pirates to symbolize they are taking over the step community, the girls start their performance out with a bang, but run into trouble after some technical difficulties. They quickly regain focus and nail their finish, winning first place in the competition. They make history as the first Latina step squad to compete and take home a first place trophy from a predominately African Americana step competition. Click to view full episode
