The Art of Stepping (AOS) Program is based on six key principles to help teach the basic fundamental understanding of stepping. Although the manner in which the principles are presented and taught is adaptable to the group that is participating in a localized program, the information that is provided remains the same.
Core Values
Stepping: AOS provides an overview and history of stepping as it relates to the Latino and African American heritage. In addition to learning how to step, participants will be given the opportunity to create their own steps.
Responsibility: Responsibility is the key to being successful in life. The AOS curriculum encourages ownership of the program, the steps, and the progress made by each participant.
Creativity: AOS encourages the expression of what’s in the hearts and minds of the Program’s participants. As part of this mindset, participants will be responsible for creating a theme for each performance.
Friendships: Respecting one another and establishing friendships is important to one’s development. The AOS Program provides an outlet for participants to be exposed to different cultures and nationalities which ultimately develop to long-term relationships.
Dedication: Dedication is key to success. As the participants excel in the Program, they will be challenge to create a routine by a deadline. In order to achieve this challenge, participants will have to be committed to making the best routine possible within the time allotted.
